Feedback about Tai Chi:

Tai Chi on-line feedback:

Hi there, Xiaobo and Jay:
I frequently race from one ZOOM meeting to another, scramble to meet unrealistic deadlines, frantically work to “keep all the balls in the air” of just regular life, all while trying to maintain a positive outlook. During these stressful times, I have found it soothing to frequently step away from the “busy-ness” and practice some of the exercises you have taught. I begin my mornings with a bit of your practice and also take a couple of breaks during my days to just breathe and focus, performing some of our routines as you have taught. This helps me re-center myself and my thinking and gives me a fresh restart to my tasks.
Thank you for continuing to share your skill and talent and insights with us.

Subject: Thank you!
To: <[email protected]> (Xiaobo's boss at the YMCA)

I just want to express my gratitude for some of your wonderful programs at the YMCA - especially the tai chi class.

I have been a student of Xiaobo's for 8 years now (she is the reason that I joined your YMCA).  She is exceptional at what she does - I have had other tai chi teachers before I found Xiaobo and there is no comparison.  She makes class fun and the exercises that she teaches are so simple and they are very effective.  She has much knowledge about health and fitness and has always been there to inspire me to want to learn and stay healthy,

This winter all my relatives came down with Covid (even the vaccinated, fully boosted ones).  I was the one who ended up being the caregiver because I basically sailed through Covid.  I truly attribute this to tai chi and the exercises that I was taught by Xiaobo.  If I don't get to do my tai chi - I feel very cheated because I know that my body is helped so much by it.  I practice it on an average of 3 to 4 times a week because the exercises are so easy!  Thank you so much for making her available each week!

Also, your zumba classes are wonderful.  I have taken Sandra Wargo's class for several years now and she is a great teacher.  She truly cares about her students and is a wonderful person.   I also enjoy taking Cheryl's class - have only done that a few times but hope to start doing more of them.

Thanks again for the great classes - I take them all online and it has proven to be of great benefit.

Xiaobo -
Thank you for teaching and reinforcing diaphragm, regulated breathing.  I now know when and how to properly inhale and exhale.  That might sound very elementary, but for me it is about restoring good health.
At some point in my life I became a paradoxical breather (from my chest wall instead), and I suffered for years with respiratory ailments.  I am now a diaphragm breather, with many thanks to you, and I have not had a respiratory ailment in my 3 years of Tai Chi.
I am Blessed to have you as my teacher, Xiaobo. Thanks for your gift.

Xiaobo -
Thank you for doing this (even though my mother-in-law grumbles when it gets complicated!).  I know it makes her feel great.  And it makes me feel more alive.  May you continue to motivate more students to follow after you, and they end up following the Giver of Life.  Happy Mother's Day!

Xiaobo -
LOVED THE SESSION!  I especially loved the new exercise with the fun music - I wish that you could put that on your website so I could do it more often!

I think this class is a great way to keep everyone interested in tai-chi (you know me - I'm an addict, in fact I did a session before class!).  It's a good way to keep your class base intact (or as I like to call it your "FAN" base - since we are all fans of yours!)

Great seeing everyone - let me know about the upcoming sessions!

Hi, Xiaobo.
I really liked the class.  Thanks so much.  It is interesting that it is non-stress exercise that touches most of the key parts of the body.  Very nice.  Let me know when the next one is occurring. Kudos to a job well done.

Regards,
Mary McKinney

Dear Xiaobo,
My husband, my Mom, and I attended your first CCAC class this last Monday.  We had been bedside of my brother, who had been hospitalized for the last 12 days, watching him in agonizing pain with really no relief in sight.  My Mom did not want to leave him, but we knew your class would help her.  He passed yesterday and we are thankful that we brought my Mom to your class, and will continue to bring her because we know your smiling face and disposition will be the best thing to help her in her grief and moving forward.  Just wanted to let you know you made our night Monday a happier one in your sweet outlook on life...Thanks...Really need to find my Chi!!
Sincerely,
Kelly

Xiaobo -
I tried to post a birthday greeting to your Facebook page, but it wouldn't post.  So, Happy Birthday to someone who touches so many lives in such a loving way.  You have carried me through such hard times by your kindness  :-)

Xiaobo-
I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy your classes. I have been taking tai chi with you for two years now and you always manage to keep it exciting and fun.  You are such a great teacher and your classes are for all age groups - even for people like me who have arthritis.

I have taken tai chi with three other instructors before I found you and there is NO comparison. In your class there is constant movement.  We all leave feeling refreshed and relaxed. With the other teachers the class was not only boring but we got to do a lot less tai chi than in your class.

I have told my friends about your classes at CCAC and now they have joined also (and have told me that they are so glad that they did).

We all thank you so much for always being there for us!

Hello Xiaobo-
I just wanted to let you know how much I am enjoying your class. My favorite is Yang Form 24 and so I'd vote for a little more time for it.  I'm also intrigued with the sword form and want to continue learning it as well.
We cover a lot in our class, and even though we move along at a disciplined pace, you make everyone feel comfortable, making it a good experience for all.
I'm grateful for your focus on the healing aspects of Tai Chi, and achieving balance in our lives.
And, I love the music. A peaceful beginning for the day.
Thanks
